21 on my mind

I think I’ve had a plain old bucket list in the form of word document for over 2 years. However, I never got around to anything on that list – all of the things were events I figured would happen in future – meaning some undefined time that didn’t implore me to take action now.

To fix this, I’ve started this blog, where I document everything I do bi-weekly. The attempt is to build an ever-growing archive of all the events and experience I come across and document them so my 80-year old self would care about.

Like the never-ending list that we have for books and movies, I’ve had a list for all the things I wanted to do in my life – both material and immaterial. Hence, I’ve divided all of it into different chapters.

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe

Juggling between work and leisure, I’ve stumbled upon zillion of ideas that I can translate into bucket list for upcoming year. 👇

  1. Refuge for 2 weeks in mountains .
  2. Hike through Himalayas.
  3. Visit Mansarovar.
  4. Walk 5k kms.
  5. Write 25,000 words in a month.
  6. Stay without Internet for a month.
  7. Look at the stars more often.
  8. Get better at cooking.
  9. Donate more anonymously.
  10. Try my hands on graphic designing.

Some of these may sound very random and obvious but I’m sure it will ripple itself into something better over time. Building such small levers will make me grow individually.

Birthdays give us flashbacks about our last year. Makes us think about our highlights last year. This has made me boil down to few of the lessons I’ve learned 👇

  1. Stay humble. No-one’s crazy – behaviour is the outcome of their interpretations. And interpretations are subjective. I’ve stopped questioning and judging people based upon their behaviour.
  2. Just how fast the night changes. Very little I realised that how much I’ve missed upon the campus life and connections during this pandemic. I’ve stopped focusing more on bad things and have started to cherish to good times.
  3. Generalist > Specialist. @naval famously said,” Specialization is for insects.” Couldn’t agree more!
  4. Process > Product. Best example is writing this blog post – made me think more than I ever did just to condense everything in one document.
  5. Health is underestimated. Fighting through 2 fatal diseases last year made me realise how much my generation ignore health.
  6. Passion projects are important. I work in internship during daylight hours and write on weekend. Passion project can be anything – painting, dancing OR writing.
  7. Be on a mountain. Enjoy the view and just be.
  8. MVP works. Be it this blog or any other project. I’ve resisted falling for analysis paralysis and started from grassroots.
  9. Optimism is important. There are few moments that make you feel low. Let that sink in and listen to some good music.
  10. Leverage.
  11. Admire, don’t iconize. Be it a person, an organisation or a product.

Looking forward to an unstoppable 21 🔥
